Industrial design (ID) refers to the features of shape, configuration, pattern or ornament of an article (product).

Who can register industrial design (ID)?

Any company, individual, organization or society can apply and register industrial design.

How long is the process of getting ID registered?

For a smooth application, the duration will be approximately 12-14 months.

Once ID registered, how long is its validity?

5 year from filing date. It can be renewed for another 5 years twice. The maximum renewals is twice (15 years of validity).

Is the ID registration valid for the whole world?

No. ID registration is territory basis. If the design only registered in Malaysia, its protection will be covered in Malaysia only.
