One of the world’s best-known songs – Happy Birthday is now in the public domain, you don’t need to pay to use it! In 2016, the United States court approved a settlement that will put “Happy Birthday to You” in the public domain. It ends the ownership claims of Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing company that has been collecting royalties on the song for years. The copyright claim was declared invalid and Warner Chappell agreed to pay back $14 million in licensing fees.
