💬 Opposition can be raised for various reasons including the reason that the trademark fails to fulfill the registrability requirement found in the Trademarks Act. The opposition can be raised by any person during the gazette period of 2 months after the acceptance of the mark form the Registry. In this stage, the mark is published for the public to raise opposition. The most common reason to raise the opposition is however that the published mark contradicts and can be confused for the Opponent’s mark. Hence, allowing the mark for registration may be prejudicial for the Opponent.
