📁 In Malaysia, Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had been cracking down on unauthorised sites providing illegal streaming and has plans to ban Smart TV boxes. The general public is urged to be wary of sales of TV box which allow illegal streaming as it is an offence under the law. In Malaysia, using and/or distributing TV boxes without the certification of SIRIM is an offence under Section 239 of Multimedia Communications Act 1998 which carries a sentence of less than two years imprisonment or a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or both. Not to mention, by accessing and streaming video contents from illegal site is also an offence under the Copyrights Act
