📰 In August 2003, a 12th grade Canadian student, Mike Rowe registered site under the domain name MikeRoweSoft.com as a phonetical pun to the tech giant Microsoft for his part-time web-design business. A month later, he was contacted by Microsoft’s Canadian lawyer and was asked to take down the domain. Microsoft was of the opinion that Mike’s domain name, a phonetic variation of “Microsoft.com”, qualified as trademark infringement and cybersquatting.

🎤 Mike Rowe when interviewed by Vancouver Province newspaper mentioned that – “Since my name is Mike Rowe, I thought it would be funny to add “soft” to the end of it.”
