📰 In 2016, a South Korean fried chicken restaurant, “Louis Vuiton Dak” was sued by the French high-end leather goods retailer, Louis Vuitton. The court later held that the South Korean restaurant is liable for trademark infringement and was fined for $1250. The court held that the name is too similar to Louis Vuitton and the chicken was wrapped in packaging bearing the iconic LV symbol.
📰 After the ruling the fried chicken restaurant changed its name to “Louisvui tondak’, but Louis Vuitton not happy with the subtle arrangement bring a non-compliance action against the restaurant and was fined again, this time for $145 million.
