On 22 September 2021, China released a 15-year plan to develop the country intellectual property rights at the national strategy level.
By 2025, China aimed to achieve stricter intellectual property protection improving social satisfaction, market value and brand competitiveness. CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) aimed to reach added value patent-intensive industries to reach 13% of GDP; the added value of copyright industries shall reach 7.5% of GDP. The total annual import and export of intellectual property royalties will reach 350 billion yuan and the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 population shall reach 12.
By 2035, China aimed to achieve intellectual property competitiveness level to be among the top in the world.
